Ms. Janis Cole

Culture, Language, Literature & Literacy educator and consultant; Diversity Facilitator, ASL/English CDI interpreter, International Sign interpreter, Creative arts consultant and CEO, LesDeux2 Productions.  Janis, for more than 15 years has co-led national, state and local Community Forums.  Janis, as a faculty member taught with the ASL/Deaf Studies/Deaf Education program at Boston University; ASL/Deaf Studies at Gallaudet University and currently, an adjunct professor and a Phd candidate, Translation/Interpretation (pedagogy/research) at Gallaudet University. Janis was one of the team members with Todd Czubek of The Magical Literacy Camp (TMLC), the Harry Potter Literacy program, a groundbreaking program designed to revolutionize perceptions and practices in ASL and English literacy instruction.   Janis received her RSC in 1977 and CDI in 2001.  She was on the National Deaf member in Leadership committee for 3 years.  Also, on the Deaf Advisory Council task force member.  Currently, she’s on RID’s Council on Elders.  Ms. Cole was a professional actress, formerly on Broadway doing ‘Children of a Lesser God and with the National Theatre of the Deaf.
